Epic Games - Unreal Futures

Through a series of behind-the-scenes videos, tutorials, and hands-on projects, students are introduced to careers in various industries that utilize Unreal Engine, Epic Games’ development platform. They learn the ins and outs of cutting-edge 3D software by working on a project similar to those encountered by professional designers and developers. By the end of these courses, students have created their own authentic industry projects using Unreal Engine.

Pixar in a Box

Pixar in a Box provides a deep and meaningful look behind the scenes at one of the world’s most innovative companies and the people who work there. The program shows students how the subjects they learn in school — like math, science, computer science, and the humanities — come together to create the Pixar films they know and love. Through the program, students get a glimpse into the many different ways they can become tomorrow’s storytellers and problem solvers.

Imagineering in a Box

Imagineering in a Box exposes students to the many career paths at Walt Disney Imagineering and connects what they learn in school to real world applications at the company. Three comprehensive lessons give students a broad introduction to all aspects of Imagineering through hands on projects that follow the actual design process as practiced by Imagineers. By the end of this course students have created mood boards, layouts, 3D ride models and animatronic character designs.

XQ Challenge: Art and Activism Series

In response to the pandemic, XQ Institute asked us to create content that would engage students and support educators through remote learning. We proposed The Challenge and, together with XQ, co-designed a series of three Art and Activism-focused challenges that called on students to share their stories through song and dance.

Ava DuVernay & When They See Us

This hands-on project delving into media bias and the ways data can be used to lead or mislead people helps students to think critically about the information they consume — and to create their own, data-driven stories. Through the program, students learn how information is used to persuade and how to spot bias in the news they consume — all from the perspective of someone working in the industry.

I have watched the X IN A BOX team in action - and they really get things done. I was amazed to see how well their program scaled while keeping an astonishingly high completion rate by users. Students benefit by gaining valuable 21st century skills and companies benefit by being connected to a pipeline of diverse talent.
